TRANS-EUROPE EXPRESS (Spain, 1977)
Capitol 10C 264-85.110 (SW-11603)
Another post, another not-quite-first edition... and another case of me being not-quite-sure when it came I suppose!
Anyway. Spain is one of the countries that put out a lot of different variants for each release, and there are various J-cards, using multiple types of card even, and several colours of print on the white or blue cassettes. My theory is that all Spanish first editions, ie. for all releases on Capitol and EMI, would have yellow paper labels. The cassette I present today, as seen in my jpg's, has on-body print. In theory, the cassette would have remained in print up to 1985, when a reissue was released on the FAMA imprint. so this variant could be from any time in the late 70's or early 80's.
The cover is based on the German original, with the Maurice Seymour
portrait on the front, and the tracklist has a quaint printer's error,
listing the title track as Tarns-Europe Express inside the J-card. At
least they got it right on the backflap and label.
The J-card is 1-panel with print on both sides. This variant has a kind of greyish card, and so the reproduction of the cover isn't all that... (Copies exist with the corners cut off the backflap, and with 2-panel J-cards, and with whiter card stock than here. Lots of variants!). Cassette has white shell with blue on-body print, and as far as I can gather, all the variants had the same rubber stamp so the print is pretty exactly the same.
